Transformations in Tech 2025 is a comprehensive new report that maps the development of Aarhus’ tech scene: its strengths, its momentum, and the challenges that will shape the city’s tech ecosystem.

The report is produced by City of Aarhus Business in collaboration with eStatistik.

It brings together updated data on employment, company growth, venture capital, skills, and entrepreneurship to provide an accessible overview of how technology is reshaping Aarhus’ business community.

At the core of the analysis is a broader definition of the tech industry: not only the traditional IT sector, but also fintech, greentech, spacetech, and other knowledge-intensive technology fields. The report shows where the real growth is happening, how talent and capital flow into the ecosystem, and why innovation is increasingly driven by tech across many industries.

Key insights include:

• Tech now accounts for 14% of all private employment in Aarhus.

• The city attracts 16% of all Danish venture capital in tech, and 88% of all local investments go to tech companies.

• Aarhus has a high concentration of high-growth firms and tech gazelles.

• At the same time, the city faces challenges with declining IT start-up activity, and a growing need for specialised and international talent.
