Aarhus-based blockchain company Partisia has entered into a strategic partnership with Japanese Toppan Edge to develop a new digital identity solution that puts user privacy first. Combining Partisia’s advanced cryptographic technology and decentralized identity system with Toppan Edge’s hardware and access control capabilities, the solution will allow users to manage and share their private data in a secure and controlled way.

Partisia announces this in a press release.

“By combining Toppan Edge’s expertise in access control with Partisia’s privacy-enhancing technologies, this partnership will set a new market standard and usher in a new era of innovation,” says Mark Medum Bundgaard, CPO at Partisia.

The collaboration will support the secure data economy of the future, where individuals can prove their identity without revealing sensitive information. The solution is software-based and works directly from mobile, enabling users to protect their data wherever they are.

Strengthening European-Japanese ties

Toppan Edge, a leading Japanese information management and digital solutions provider, brings its expertise in access control and physical hardware to the table, while Partisia contributes its blockchain platform and Multi-Party Computation (MPC) technology. Partisia has previously distinguished itself as a pioneer in anonymous computing and secure information sharing.

The collaboration will also support Japan’s national initiative “The Trusted Web”, which focuses on creating secure, decentralized data infrastructures. With compatibility to EU eIDAS standards, the partnership also strengthens the digital bond between Europe and Japan.

“At Partisia, privacy is at the heart of everything we do. We are proud to support Toppan Edge in their work to develop secure, software-based alternatives that meet both Japanese and European data protection standards,” says Mark Medum Bundgaard.

Beyond digital identity, Toppan Edge and Partisia are also working on the application of Web3 and Internet of Things (IoT) technology to promote a new generation of user-controlled, secure computing.
