Brand new shared office space in Aarhus oozes history

Patinated windows separate the office spaces from each other. A series of wall lights in the corridors are built from used bricks and copper sheets. And inside an office, the height has been utilized to the fullest: Here, a fully grown tree trunk stands from floor to ceiling at a height of 6 meters.

The coworking space Workspace Campen has just reopened its doors after a thorough renovation. Everything looks new and stylish, and at the same time oozes history. Not just because the building is an old textile factory from 1942. But also because the renovation made use of a wealth of raw and patinated recycled materials from other buildings across the country.
“There is a lot of attention to detail, which gives the house a lot of nice elements. For example, we were missing a lounge area in one of the hallways, and we realized that we could saw up a tree trunk and make it into one long bench,” says Gert Ingemann, Operations Manager for Workspace Campen and Workspace Haslegården, while sharing stories about the many recycled finds that have been used in the construction.

A unique environment for entrepreneurs
Workspace Campen is built as a sister community to Workspace Haslegården, which is just a few minutes walk away. Haslegården has been around for 10 years and offers the same creative interior design with recycled materials. The unique interior design and special atmosphere play a big part in why companies choose to locate here:
“Residents choose us because they are looking for a unique working environment along with high service. We place great emphasis on having a visible receptionist who is always ready to help and welcome guests. So with us, they get an inspiring and professional environment where you can bring both customers and business partners into a space that exudes quality – without having to do all the hard work yourself,” he says.

At the same time, the Camp builds on the community from Haslegården, so there were networking opportunities and ongoing events for all residents right from the start. Socially, the program includes communal breakfasts, wine tasting and bingo. There are also regular professional events in the two houses, which can be used very concretely in the companies.
“Together with various partners, we offer free sparring to our tenants in areas such as HR, auditing, law and marketing. Here, tenants can get tools on how to draw up a good cooperation contract, how to handle stress among your employees and what marketing opportunities you have as a company,” says Gert Ingemann.
A flexible solution
Workspace residents consist of sole traders, small businesses, and smaller divisions of large companies – all across industries.
It’s also an integral part of the concept that you need to be able to embrace a wide range of needs. Workspace will be flexible on the tenants, so you can quickly adjust the space up or down as needed with short commitments.
“For example, we have an agreement that if you move to a larger lease, you don’t have to pay a deposit again. So people are not so afraid to move. There are many options with us, and we can quickly change things if necessary,” says Gert Ingemann.
