CEO of new battery startup: “It’s very much about security of supply as production becomes more volatile in the coming years”
Danish startup HyBESS Energy enters the market with the ambition to revolutionize the energy sector. With a focus on delivering total solutions in battery storage, HyBESS targets both industrial companies and critical infrastructure such as hospitals and airports. Operating from the Port of Aarhus and Køge, the company is a collaboration between DI-Teknik/Caverion and BattMan Energy, and promises to deliver complete battery energy storage systems (BESS) ranging from 0.25 MW to 5 MW.

“HyBESS was created to deliver and operate complete BESS solutions to stabilize your energy supply and secure your energy needs for the future. We know the market, have all the skills in-house, deliver quality and have the right approach to code of conduct. There is a great need for a reliable partner, as the industry has been characterized by fast money in recent years,” says HyBESS’ new CEO, Jacob Hedegaard Christensen in a press release.
The energy market is facing significant challenges, including a tripling of electricity consumption and an increased reliance on renewable energy sources like solar and wind. These energy sources, while environmentally friendly, are also unstable, creating challenges in balancing supply and demand. According to Green Power Denmark, Denmark could face periods of critical electricity shortages as early as 2030.
Future-proofing the energy supply
CEO of HyBESS, Jacob Hedegaard Christensen, emphasizes that security of energy supply is now as important as the economic benefits of energy storage.

“So far, the focus has been on how you might make money from storing electricity – which you can. Now the smart ones are beginning to understand that it is also very much about security of supply as energy production becomes more unstable and fragile in the coming years, because more and more is being electrified and because we will experience periodic shortages of electricity throughout Europe,” says CEO Jacob Hedegaard Christensen in the press release.
HyBESS is positioning itself as a key player in the green transition. Battery storage enables the storage of energy from renewable sources such as solar cells and wind turbines, making the energy system more flexible and sustainable. In addition, BESS solutions offer companies the ability to store cheap energy when it is available and use it when prices rise. This ability to stabilize the energy supply is critical to avoid downtime and secure future energy needs.
