Experiencing multi-million growth: Agriculture is going digital

Seges Innovation has published its annual accounts for 2024, showing a net revenue growth of 10%. The total increase of approximately DKK 60 million is split between increased commercial activity and an expansion of research and innovation projects. The result marks a strengthened financial position and reflects a growing demand for effective digital tools and solutions for use in the green transition of the agriculture and food sector, according to a press release.
“On the top line, Seges Innovation had a turnover of DKK 697.5 million. On the bottom line, the result is DKK 8.4 million. This is below budget due to a development project that has been written down, but satisfactory in light of the risks associated with being an innovation house and emphasizes the need for robustness. Also here in 2025, the growth in Seges Innovation continues and we expect a turnover of DKK 710-730 million in 2025,” says Carsten Jespersen, CFO of Seges Innovation.
Headquartered in Agro Food Park and with over 450 employees, Seges Innovation plays a key role in the development of solutions within climate, environment, biodiversity and sustainability. The company collaborates broadly with farmers, universities, authorities and private actors throughout the value chain from farm to fork.
Agriculture is becoming more and more digital
This growth is driven in part by increasing investments from the agricultural sector in digital technologies. SEGES Innovation’s software developers work on solutions that translate new knowledge into practical applications in the field, barn and office. The organization’s innovative power is largely based on funded projects and close partnerships with both research and industry.
“You could say that the farm has landed on the mobile, tablet and computer. The tractor and other agricultural machinery are essential for a farmer, but great data insight and new professional knowledge are just as key ingredients in the sustainable production of raw materials and food. This applies both when the climate footprint needs to be reduced, the aquatic environment needs to be improved and when animal welfare and the working environment need to be strengthened,” says Lisbeth Henricksen, Executive Vice President, Innovation, SEGES Innovation.

SEGES Innovation is also represented in the government’s new growth team for the food sector, where CEO Tom Heron contributes with insight into how Danish agriculture can be developed competitively and sustainably.
“2024 has been a year of significant growth and important investments in knowledge and solutions for balanced agricultural and food production. We have certainly felt that the implementation of the green tripartite calls on the expertise of our employees. This economic development allows us to continue to drive innovation and find new solutions to balance sustainability and competitiveness,” he says.
