New profile in Systematic to ensure better utilization of advanced defense technology

Tech Savvy icon New profile in Systematic to ensure better utilization of advanced defense technology

One of Denmark’s most experienced military profiles is moving to the tech industry. Systematic has hired Brigadier General Susanne Kiholm Lund as Senior Director with a focus on ensuring that customers get full value from the company’s advanced defense systems.

“When a nation invests in one of the world’s most advanced command and control systems, it’s crucial that the entire organization learns to think about it from top to bottom – not just the staff behind the computer screen,” says Susanne Kiholm Lund.

She will take up the position on May 1, 2026 after 38 years in the Armed Forces. Systematic announces this in a press release.

Technology only creates value when the organization keeps up

Systematic is known for its SitaWare command and control system, which is used by NATO and in more than 50 countries. But according to the company, the challenge is not just delivering the technology – it’s ensuring that it is used correctly.

In modern warfare, the ability to make faster and better decisions than your opponent is crucial. Software plays a key role here, but only if the organization is geared to work digitally.

“It’s not enough to just buy the product and believe that the value will come by itself. Of course, you train the users, but too often we as managers, staffs and military organizations still think analogously,” says Susanne Kiholm Lund.

She points out that military decision-makers still spend time on manual calculations that modern technology and AI can handle in seconds.

Bridging the gap between technology and practice

With this appointment, Systematic wants to strengthen the work with implementation and use of the technology at customers.

According to the company, Susanne Kiholm Lund brings a rare combination of operational experience, strategic insight and leadership skills.

“Susanne has worked with all levels and branches of the Armed Forces – from officer development to operational staffs, from Danish doctrines to NATO and international missions. Her knowledge of the operational field is unique, and she combines it with a strong leadership profile and an innovative approach to how organizations need to evolve to solve future tasks,” says Gauri Varma Heise, Vice President at Systematic.

For a company with global customers in the defense sector, the ability to connect technology with organizational practices is crucial to create real impact.

Will continue to make a difference for the defense

For Susanne Kiholm Lund, the career change is not about leaving the Armed Forces – but about contributing in a new way.

“Systematic has a good reputation in the industry and SitaWare is a solid product. It really appealed to me that they look beyond the technology and also work with the people and processes behind it,” she says.

She adds:

“I may be leaving the military, but I still want to make a difference there – just in a new way.”
